Laboratory Overview

鈴木研究室では生命の単位である細胞に学ぶ物理現象・工学技術を研究しています

この100年程で,人類は科学と工学技術を飛躍的に発展させました.それでも,何十億年という進化の結果としてできた生命のシステムは,まだ完全に理解されていません. 生命は,外部から物質を取り入れて自分自身を複製し,タンパク質や細胞を組織化して複雑な構造や機能を生み出します.材料(原子)やそれを司る物理・化学の法則は同じですが, 生命のシステムでは,これらの「組み合わせ方」や「使い方」に特徴があるのです. 当研究室では,生命のシステムが採用している法則を学び,その特徴を抽出した「モデル」をつくることで,新しい工学技術のコンセプトを提案します. 特に,ナノメートル,マイクロメートルの小さな部品から,より大きなスケールの構造やシステムが組織化し,かつ機能が創発する原理を探求し,それを工学的に実現する方法を探索します.

研究室名の由来

Laoratory Origin

ナノバイオモデリング研究室

ナノ~マイクロスケールの要素(部品)を使って,バイオ(生物)のモデルをつくり機能を再現していく中でそれを支配する現象や法則を考え, 新しい技術に発展させるという意味が込められています.コンセプトとしては,従来からあるバイオミメティクス(生物模倣)という言葉とオーバーラップしますが, 「モデリング」という機械工学を連想させる言葉を選びました.
